Professor Suping Peng is an expert in the field of mine engineering geology and geophysical prospecting, the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the chief director of energy and engineering institute, the professor of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), one of the distinguished professors on “Cheung Kong Scholars Program”, and the director of the state key laboratory of coal resources and safe mining. Professor Peng holds the position of the committeeman of the advisory committee affiliated to the National Energy Leading Group, the member of subject review of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, the executive of subject review of geological resources and engineering, the member of advisory group of the national key fundamental research and development plan, the committeeman of the Coal Mine Industry and Technology Committee, the Chinese consultant of the World Resource Organization, the committeeman of the energy committee of the International Engineering Organization, and the chief editor of International Journal of Coal Science and Technology, Frontier in Energy and some other international academic journals.

Professor Peng has been engaging in the teaching and research in the mine engineering geology and geophysical prospecting, especially the research of geophysical prospecting technology in mining geology, making remarkable achievements in the research of coal mining fine geological structure, equipment research and engineering application. In the recent years he has also actively explored and made significant progress in the field of green coal mining technology and efficient conversion of coal. He has obtained 1 piece of the 2nd prize of National Invention Award, 3 pieces of the 2nd prize of National Advancement Award of Science and Technology, 1 piece of grand prize, 5 pieces of 1st prize and 4 pieces of 2nd prize of the Provincial/Ministerial Advancement Award of Science and Technology, 1 piece of 2nd prize of the Military Advancement Award of Science and Technology, 11 pieces of national invention patent, and 4 sets of copyright software. Besides, 5 monographs and more than 100 scientific papers have successively been published. Professor Peng is also the winner of lots of awards and titles such as the Sun Yueqi Energy Award, the Guanghua Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the National Outstanding Supervisor of Ph.D Dissertation, the outstanding expert of the Ministry of Science and Technology in the area of coalfield geology and survey, and the Capital May 1st Labor Medal.
